IELTS Listening Skills

You know what what we hear means what we listen and if we are hearing a recorded message then we have to pay attention all the time so that we do not miss anything.

If we are sitting in an exam, then surely we have to be careful by focusing on what is the announcement and as per the directives of the exam taking body.

FOR IELTS: We have to pay focus on each and every word that we listen in order to achieve our goals. In the IELTS Listening test, we have four sections namely:

First Section is about telephone or a direct conversation between 2 persons and we have to fill the questionnaire blanks as we hear.

Second Section is about a teacher or a speaker giving a short introduction of any topic, it may be a tour, guide or lecture, maybe a map with trails.

Third Section is about a discussion either between 2 students or student vs teacher. It is not defined that the same strategy will be followed every time. They can change without intimating us that they are doing so.

Fourth and last Section is a lecture or a detailed view by a speaker about any wildlife or ancient thing or maybe something very unknown and unique to us. Listen carefully as this section is somewhat difficult because there are 10 questions in a row and no time gap will be given in b/w them.

A general problem made by people in the IELTS Listening module ==> SolutionJ

In next few days’ time most of you will be taking your IELTS exams and this would be a better time to share you about one general problem that has been curtailing the bands of test taker.
Many of you only know that the Listening test contains 4 sections. Before every section you will hear some instructions from a recording and some time will be given to look at the questions. Then the recording will start and you have to listen and write your answers. At this time answers will be written right in the Listening book, just next to the questions they belong to where spaces are given for the same.

At the end of the Listening test time will be given to copy the answers on the Answer Sheet. And here is the part you need to concentrate: The mistake people do is that they copy the answers the answers to the Answer Sheet during the time they are given before each section begins. Well, nowadays at most of the test centers, they do not allow to write on the Listening Answer sheet before the end of test – so nothing to worry if you get this lucky test place.

After the test 10 full minutes are allocated along with recording with time checks at 5 and 2 minutes and at the end, to move all your answers to the Answer Sheet. So do not waste your time and do as it is instructed otherwise you will lose concentration and your marks will not come as per your requirement.

Wish you good luck for your exams,

IELTS around the world!
