IELTS Reading Skills

Reading according to most of the contestants of IELTS exam is the worst part of IELTS. It contains at-least 40 questions in 3 sections. According to the research work conducted till now the idea of reading revolves around 2 basic factors:

Skimming (Movement of eyes surface to surface and search for the main idea of the question and get your result as fast as you can.

and

Scanning (Take a hawk’s look to the reading section and get to the answer by getting deep into it and look for all possible solutions of your question.

I would like to say that some questions are so deceptive that they can really swallow majority of your time. So time management is essential. As you can observe in your reading paragraphs that each of the paras are divided into 20 minutes. This means you should spare 20 minutes in all for every reading paragraph otherwise it will be very hard to achieve your goals at the end.

Skimming and Scanning

Description of Skimming and Scanning is given above, kindly read it attentively. We think in reading section that it will be manageable but we are very wrong. We have 3 sections to do and there is only one hour to complete and check the work, which means only 20 minutes per paragraph. First of all, do not spend more than 15 minutes on any of the para and after the passage of 15 minutes, just move on to next passage. In this way you will have 15 more minutes and you can complete your any incomplete sections and enough time to recheck also. The comfortable you are, the more bands you will get. Try this and be lucky!!!!
